Set trap by pressing the set bar. You will hear a click when set.
Place trap where you see mouse activity. Bait well should be placed perpendicular to the wall, with bait facing wall.
Use convenient grab tab to dispose. No need to touch the mouse.

I live in a rural area and get mice from time to time. This is the only trap that catches them. I have tried the other Tomcat models "spin trap" and the "snap trap", which do not work at all. The mouse won't go into the little house and it will eat the peanut butter off the snap trap without setting it off. I have tried other types of Victor traps too. They are junk! This press n set mouse trap works great! I just caught one last night within an hour of setting this trap after over a week of it evading me with other traps. (Posted over a month ago)

People don't often report news when nothing goes wrong, but I wanted to say something nice.
I discovered that a little mouse decided to have a snack on the bananas on my counter one night. Went to Lowes, bought some of these press n set traps and some of the Tomcat mouse bait gel.
Got home, tested them on my finger, ouch!
Set them up, and the next morning, bam! Got 'em!
They're easy to set, easy to remove the kill, and easy to reset and move without them going off for no reason.
Overall, a very inexpensive win! (Posted over a month ago)

Both traps in the 2 pack I bought do not work at all. I press them until they click then I can take a screwdriver and push the pressure plate all the way down and they don't trigger. I look at all the instructions I could online they say just "bait it and press it." They must be defective. I looked for a customer service number and could not find one (Posted over a month ago)

These traps worked so much better than the wood & wire snap traps, especially for a pesky young mouse that was too light to trip the other traps. I was basically just feeding him, cause he would eat all the peanut butter off the trigger, then walk away. But within a day of switching to these traps, I got him, and several adults. But, after only a couple of months of being set and ready to snap, the plastic hinge tab broke off one of the traps suddenly during the night.I know these can be disposable, but I would be willing to pay a couple bucks more to have a thicker or tougher plastic trap that I can use for years. The wood traps stain and get really nasty with dead-mouse juice. Plastic can be washed and even disinfected if needed.Bottom line - Great design, works well but needs better material. (Posted over a month ago)

Very good/effective product. I purchased 30 traps over the past year and none have failed. I scratch my head wondering how could a mouse lick the trap clean and not get caught. I only wish you could order this product in larger quanities to reduce cost although a 2pk is only $4.00 plus tax. (Posted over a month ago)

Like many of the other reviews, one of two traps in the 2-pack I purchased would not operate right out of the box. Totally unacceptable, and apparently happening on a regular basis after reading other reviews. I still had hope that the other working trap would at least catch mice. The mice were able to lick away all of the peanut butter bait without springing the trap. Total waste of money! (Posted over a month ago)

Purchased 1 2 pack yesterday. After about an hour or 2 I checked the trapped to see that the mouse came and ate the tortilla chip. I forgot this happened with another purchase. But due to time constraints I didn't have time to rebait the trap. The 2nd trap had a kernel of Corn. I do think they like it much. About 2 hours ago, I heard a noise, went to check and yes, it had snapped the neck of a mouse YES.this took place less than hours. I believe I have newborn mice and may need a smaller contraption. I will try another company. In the pack of2, one trap always work and the other is not comparable. Sorry TOMCAT, it's true, you've been caught. SNAP (Posted over a month ago)

I had the wooden mouse traps set for almost a week. Didn't work. The mouse was too light and walked over them. I purchased this product and within 10 minutes of setting it the mouse was dead. Wish I bought it sooner! (Posted over a month ago)

I recently moved into an old country house with a huge yard and many trees. It has the occasional mouse. I tried the traditional wooden traps, although they did catch a few mice, more often than not they were tripped without catching anything. Then I switched to these "Jaw traps". I have since caught maybe a dozen mice over the past several months and only once has the trap tripped without catching anything. These ARE the better mousetraps! By the way, these can be a one time use, but I've reused the same trap over and over, also because of how effective these traps are, the bait doesn't go anywhere either. (Posted over a month ago)

These are the traps to use! I tried the old wood ones and the tomcat kill and contain both with peanut butter as bait and the mice were able to eat all the pb without setting the traps. It was very frustrating, so I bought these at Home Depot and am VERY happy they caught 2 mice the first night! Easy to set and easy to grab and throw away! I'm going to buy more today! Thanks (Posted over a month ago)

I bought wooden traps first and that was a waste of $2. Then I bought these with a bottle of mouse attractant and I have 2 dead mice. They are easy to dispose of the mice and reset the traps. (Posted over a month ago)

I agree with another reviewer who stated that the product is beyond flimsy. I just purchased two packages, each containing two traps. When I was loading the first trap, the small piece of plastic that holds the trap open broke off. I very gingerly baited and set the second trap in the package, and it appears that nothing broke, but it is too early to know if it will be effective. I opened the other box and while holding my breath to avoid breaking anything by exhaling, I also loaded and placed that one. I opened the second package to comply with the recommendation that 2 traps be placed 5-10 feet apart. I only intended to use each trap once, but I expected it to be tripped by a mouse before discarding it. (Posted over a month ago)

Have used the old wooden traps for a long time with limited success. Picked up a pack of these at my local box store and immediately stopped around 6 mice from accessing my kitchen. They would come up from the utility room to that space underneath the cabinets. Traps were easy to set and clear. Put a dab of peanut butter in the food cup and pull back and set. When the trap went off you could carry it outside and release the mouse (dead) without having to touch it. (Posted over a month ago)

This product is sold as a 'one time use' we however did get multi uses but broke about after 3-4 catches I do not recommend these if you have a actual mouse problem you will spend a fortune on traps to catch them ... (Posted over a month ago)

We had previously purchased Ortho press 'n set mouse traps and they were great. We could no longer find the Ortho brand and found out that Scotts had purchased Tomcat and replaced the Ortho brand. We bought 2 2-packs and 3 out of the 4 traps broke before we could even use them. Worthless product! (Posted over a month ago)

these are the best mouse traps I have bought and the only thing bad with them is out of the 12 I bought I could only reuse 2 of them, I will still buy them (Posted over a month ago)

I use these around my house. We have dogs and noticed some mice droppings so i went to homedepot and got these. One night i caught at least 6 of them i was surprised at the number of mice in my backyard and how great the trap works. The dogs eventually chewd the traps so i have to go get more. I've been using these traps for three years now. Have 6 set up around the basement and in garage. Only one has broke and that is to be expected given they are made of plastic and snap shut to kill. I've caught many many little creatures in these traps. I've had a few instances where the trap did not go off... but it got the little bugger the next time. (Posted over a month ago)

I bought this product as it looked easy to use . which it is . The problem is mice can eat the bait without setting it off . Maybe if they made the release easier , it would work . All it is now is a mouse feeder . Fix the release and I would buy it again , but as it is now I couldn't recommend this to anyone . (Posted over a month ago)

I purchased these because I had a Mouse in the house. They looked powerful and easy to use. I was impressed that they were inexpensive yet built solid. These were not like those cheap disposable wooden ones you can buy for like a dime. I always had trouble setting those sodden ones. I don't remember how many times I almose set one off on my finger. These traps were easy to bait and set with little chance of it going off on a finger by mistake. Good thing too with those huge shark like teeth and powerful jaws. I set out two as soon as I got them home. Later that evening I checked them and low and behold I caught the intruder. He was plenty dead and no mess to clean up you simply pick up the trap and toss it in the trash. I ended up getting two mice over the next three days. I bought a few more but have not needed them. I have them though just incase I get another one of those unwanted guests. Try them and rid your home of all mice better than calling the farmers wife. As we all know she only gets their tails anyway. (Posted over a month ago)

I had a major problem with ground squirrels. No matter what "hunmain trap or bait I used, nothing could solve the problem. After visiting my corner independent hardware store, I bought 4 of the Tomcat brand Press 'N Set Mouse Traps. They could not be easier to bait with peanut butter and place them around the vegetables that the squirrels were terrorizing. The next morning, I had trapped two of the critters, and disposal was safe, clean and better yet, I was able to re-bait the traps and use them all summer. All told 13 of the critters met their demise, and I moved the traps indoors where they got 5 field mice. (Posted over a month ago)

Easiest most convenient mouse trap I have ever used and I have used them all. We live in the country on 10 acres and have always had mice issues util this past fall when we started suing Tomcat. It is truly set it and forget it. (Posted over a month ago)

First time mouse catching was not as distasteful as the old fashion mouse traps. Hard to set and so easy to trigger, the Tomcat made setting easy and safe. (Posted over a month ago)

This product is wonderful....for some reason we keep getting mice in our basement and garage. I purchased this product...actually several of this particular product. I have found that this is the very best in catching several mice. The product is completely humane. I personally love this product and would not consider using anything else. Easy to use update of traditional spring traps. Hard to mess with a classic, but this might be the epitome of the mouse trap. Works better and more reliably than modern spin traps, way less dangerous to set than traditional wire spring traps, and not at all likely to kill my pets or children like poisons. The bait well is smartly placed in the center of the trigger, which is so effective that the traps can be used several times over before re-baiting is necessary (the poor little bugger doesn't even get a last meal). These can easily be armed in place with one finger reducing the trap accidentally going off during placement and the same large lever panel is used to release the trap so there's no getting physically involved with the dead rodent to reuse it (ewww!). I cleaned every mouse in my house out in about 6 week with 6 traps. Now I use them outside to catch moles and voles and am making better headway than I ever did with repellents or poisons. Couldn't be simpler or more effective. (Posted over a month ago)

Using the liquid black gel bait that is sold in addition to these traps works like a charm. I have caught many mice with these jaw traps! They work better than a domesticated house cat! The mechanism on these traps is very touchy and snaps with the slightest of pressure. (Posted over a month ago)
